Temporary driving permit is issued to foreigners who have a valid foreign driver’s license, and hold a valid China visa with a permitted stay of less than or equivalent to 90 days. The valid period of the temporary driving permit corresponds to the permitted stay stated on the applicant’s visa. ‘International Driving Permit’ is not accepted for the China temporary driving permit.
Furthermore, temporary driving permit has to be used with the foreign driver’s license and Chinese translation. According to the legislation, rental cars are included in the categories that allowed to be driven by the holders of this type of license; replacement is not available for loss and damage.

B. Passport with a China Visa (with a permitted stay of less than or equivalent to 90 days) OR
C. Passport with a resident permit issued out of Beijing and Registration Form of Temporary Residence issued by a local police station in Beijing (with a validity of less than or equivalent to 90 days)
For Hong Kong and Macau residents: Travel pass to the mainland and Registration Form of Temporary Residence issued by a local police station in Beijing (with a validity of less than or equivalent to 90 days)
For Taiwanese residents: Travel pass to the mainland and Registration Form of Temporary Residence issued by a local police station in Beijing (with a validity of less than or equivalent to 90 days)
2. Valid foreign driver’s license
3. Three 1-inch color photos with white background
